The Three Options of Window Replacement

Many people end up making window replacements in their home about every ten years.  Some new homeowners even end up choosing to do window replacement after only a couple of years if they are not satisfied with the windows they either chose or were in the house when they purchased it. 

There are three main options that you have with window replacement:

1. Full Frame Replacement - This is pretty self-explanatory, in that you are replacing the window and frame entirely.  When you do a full frame window replacement, you have the option of changing the shape or size of the window.
2. Pocket Solution - This is less invasive than a full frame replacement-- the exterior siding and window trim are not disturbed. 
3. Tilt Sash Replacement - This is another less-invasive option and replaces the window sash for more energy efficiency.  It also allows you to keep the window trim.

There are a lot of different reasons to replace your windows, and in order to achieve desired results through window replacement, you need to make sure you hire a good contractor to do the installation. If the installation is done incorrectly, you will likely end up replacing your windows again much sooner than you anticipated.  If the installation is done correctly, however, you will start being able to save money on your utility bills and not have to replace your windows again for a long time.
